HOW TO GET THERE

Panama City is well-connected to the rest of the world and has several options to facilitate your arrival and movement.
From the moment you land, you can choose between different means of transport to move around the city comfortably and safely.
You will find alternatives that adapt to your travel style, whether by public transport, taxi, or mobile application.
Exploring Panama is easy; choose the option that suits you best and enjoy the tour!

BY AIR

Tocumen International Airport, located in Panama City, is the country’s main entry point. There are direct or connecting flights from all continents.
In addition, the Panama Pacifico International Airport, just 20 minutes from the Albrook Terminal, offers direct flights from Colombia and other destinations in Central America and the Caribbean.

BY LAND

Panama is connected by land to the rest of Central and North America through the Pan-American Highway.
This same route is the central artery connecting destinations within the country.

BY SEA

Panama is a port country, so it is also possible to arrive by boat.
Two ports receive cruise ships: one in the Pacific and one in the Caribbean, and some smaller ones that can be reached with small boats, such as yachts and sailboats.
Make sure to meet all the requirements and compare private marinas’ services and benefits to choose what best suits your needs.

HOW TO GET AROUND

Car Rental
The easiest way to get around in Panama is by renting a car.
You can get different rental services at the international airport with companies such as Budget, Europcar, Alamo, Thrifty, Dollar, National, Hertz, Express, Avis, Enterprise, Sixt, Economy, Deal Mobility, and ACE Rent a Car.
To rent a car in Panama, you need a valid driver’s license, a minimum age, a credit card, and to pay for rental insurance.

Bus and Subway
Our bus and subway system are fully connected.
You must buy the MiBus card at the airport or an official point of sale to use either of the two services.
Download the MiBus app to charge the card, search for stops, and set your route.
The buses and subways have air conditioning and a pretty organized system.

Taxis
The taxi system in Panama City is a little different from what is usually seen internationally.
We do not usually have a meter here; we advise you to ask a local how much the journey might cost and agree on the price with the driver before taking it.
There is a line of white taxis specialized in tourism.
They are usually parked at Tocumen airport and near large hotels.
This is the Special Tourism Service (SET), which has standardized rates and services.

WHAT TO BRING

Before packing your bags, we recommend including some essential elements to make your experience in Panama as comfortable as possible. Although the country is well equipped to receive visitors, certain items can make your stay much easier.
From adapters for your electronic devices to some local cash or personal medicines, here is a list of what should not be missing in your luggage. Get ready and travel with peace of mind!

A travel adapter/converter

Your phone, hair dryer, or laptop charger may not fit or work in Panama’s sockets.
The Panama outlet is type A/B and works with 110 V / 50 Hz.

Some Panamanian cash

Having a little cash just in case, is a good idea. However, don’t bring a lot of cash, you don’t want to lose it! Panama’s official currency is the Balboa. One Balboa is equivalent to one US dollar, and both can be used in the country.

Medicine from home

“Western” medicine is readily available in Panama, but if you have been prescribed, prefer to use, or know that you will need/want medication from home, we suggest that you bring it with you.
